Positive Circle is a program that raises money for underprivileged, homeless and orphaned children in Bangladesh. We raise funds to cover their education, support and guide them from adolescence to adulthood.

Our Beginning

The founders of this program came together from an extraordinary situation. Jamie Henshall was on a mission to find his father who was from Bangladesh; they lost contact when Jamie was two. UK born and now a citizen of Australia, he went to Bangladesh for the first time thirty-two years later in search of his father and to find out more about his heritage with his good friend Antony.

Through an AirBnB booking, they came across Suman who lived in Old Dhaka and a friendship was born. Jamie, Antony and Suman became an unstoppable team, and together they searched deep into the streets of Old Dhaka to try and find Jamie's father.

This extremely emotional, spiritual and testing experience was the catalyst to shine a positive light on the local community of Old Dhaka. The locals saw a western man coming to his fatherland in search of answers and to find peace. They welcomed him with open arms and found his story inspirational. On his return to Australia and after the birth of his daughter that year, Jamie felt compelled to do something to help the children of Old Dhaka and worked together with Suman and Antony to set up "Positive Circle" a program that raises money for underprivileged, homeless and orphaned children in Bangladesh.

The money raised goes to cover their education and supports and guides them from adolescence to adulthood.

“We can hear noises of cries for help.”

Kazi Nazrul Islam was a Bengali poet, musician, revolutionary, and philosopher who pioneered poetic works espousing intense spiritual rebellion against orthodoxy and oppression.

"Finding Ali" is a documentary that has been self-funded by Jamie in his quest to find his father. He will return in 2018 to continue the search for his father, implement the "Positive Circle" program and complete his documentary.
